First Innings: Sri Lanka vs. Netherlands, NED scored 262/10 in 49.4 Overs

Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd

Vikramjit and Max’O’Dowd came on the crease for the opening inning. Moreover, Dilshan Medushanka was the attacking bowler for Sri Lanka. The Netherlands did not have a good start. Thus losing their first wicket in just four overs. Yet Vikramjit Singh scored just 4 runs on 13 balls. It is to be noted that it was the boundary.

However, it was a good start from Sri Lanka. As on the ball of Rajitha, it was dismissed due to lbw. Actually, Singh went upwards. However, it seemed to be closer as the batter struck the back pad.

Due to his being late after coming at fair length, Moreover, it was a classic right-arm swing delivery. Thus, the ball swung in the middle, collided with the middle, and slammed against the middle top. Moreover, they lost their review for this mess too.

Max O’Dowd and Colin Ackermann

Ackermann came to the crease now. Both batsmen played much better than before. The score finally reached 48 runs in 9.6 overs. So here is another prey for Rajitha. Moreover O’Dowd attempted the drive on full outside off edge.

Yet could only obtain an intimidating inner edge that clattered into stumps. Thus Rajitha was fired up. However he scored 16 runs on 27 balls. Hence his innings included one six and one boundary.

Colin Ackermann and Bas de Leede

Bas de Leede has come to the crease now. Moreover, the score could barely reach 54 in the 12th over, yet the Netherlands lost another wicket. Boom, boom, Rajitha. The bowler got the third wicket. Ackermann was dismissed.

Ackermann turned around and shook his head. Moreover, Rajitha angled it into the batsman. Thus keeping the length on the short side. Meanwhile, the ball, after being pitched, landed outside off. Hence, it moved away since the batsman flashed his flat bat. Moreover, he gained an outside edge. Ultimately, Mendis caught it easily by moving low.

Bas de leede and Teja Nidamanuru

Teja was on the crease now. Hard luck to the Netherlands, as neither could stand long enough to save the wicket either. A few overs after the previous dismissal, the two also lost their wickets one by one.

In the 17th over on the ball of Madushanka, Bas de Leede was dismissed. Maybe he could not play much worse than this. Yet he played 21 balls and scored only six with no boundary or six.

He hit the ball, and at first glance, it appeared so that Perera could easily grasp it since he fell over the ground. Yet ultimately, when he stumbled across his right He could manage to keep it safe.

Moreover, just behind the wicket, Madushanka delivered a short-length delivery outside off. However, it angled towards the right-handed player. Furthermore, the batsman accelerated late after riding the bump. The ball thus proved to be in favor of Sri Lanka.

Teja Nidamanuru and Scott Edwards

Scott Edwards was on the crease now. But another setback the Netherlands faced just after a few overs was the dismissal of Nidamanuru. He could score only nine runs on 16 balls yet lose his wicket with no boundary or six.

On the ball of Madushanka, he was dismissed with an LBW. Despite Madushanka’s inswinging, the umpire, Erasmus, did not budge. Actually, the exodus returned and defeated Teja’s push. In addition, the replay revealed that the ball struck the center of the leg stump.

The Netherlands could not play much worse than this. As of 19th over, they were 71/5. A slow-moving score with high falling wickets broke the hopes of the Dutch people.

 Scott Edwards and Sybrand Engelbrecht

Sybrand Engelbrecht has come to the crease now. Scott and he could reach 91 until the 22nd over. Thus, Edwards lost his wicket. After scoring 16 runs on 16 balls with no boundary or six, the skipper was out of the crease.

Actually, he was pried by Theekshana. The process included the perfect offbreak outside of Theekshana. As it turned back sharper than the batsman’s expectations. Furthermore, it moved away from his body. Took the inside edge, ultimately disturbing the stumps. In the Netherlands, another setback was that.

Logan van Beek and Sybrand Engelbrecht

Logan van Beek was on the crease now. So the good time for the Netherlands started. Hence, the worse for Sri Lanka. They could not dismiss any further wickets until the 46th over.

Furthermore, the duo boosted the score to 221 in the 46th over. Englebrecht scored 70 on 82 balls. Moreover, his innings included four boundaries and one six. The credit for the most-awaited wicket went to Madushanka.

Sri Lanka felt so relieved after taking Sybrand’s wicket. Actually, he went forward to scoop the ball behind the wicket. Hence, it proved to be the wrong decision. Nevertheless, the ball length was much longer. Yet the dipped ball caused it to touch the base of the middle stump. Hence, the potential game-changing stand was demolished.

Logan van Beek and Roelof van der Merwe

Roelof van der Merwe came to the crease now. Unfortunately, he could not stand much. The batter tried to hit a high shot to make a much bigger score than the target. Yet his luck was not appreciating his efforts since it ended so early with 7 on 7 balls.

On the ball of Madushanka, he was given out in a way that seems unusual. Furthermore, he delivered a short ball as VDM was positioned near his leg stump.

The batsman attempted to get out of the path by swaying slightly. Yet it ultimately collapsed to the ground. Since holding his bat and gloves higher in the air. While VDM ended up on the pitch, the ball got a lighter shove off his right glove. Yet it traveled to Mendis. Another was caught by Mendis.

Logan van Beek and Aryan Dutt

Aryan Dutt was on the crease now. Yet the Netherlands faced another major setback soon. Logan van Beek was dismissed. He scored 59 runs on 75 balls. Moreover, his score included one boundary and one six. On the ball of Rajitha, he was dismissed as it happened due to Asalanka.

Actually, he did it so well just by falling at deep midwicket. Before flinging himself at full stretch on the rope edge, he moved a few paces to his right. Since the third umpire checked it to confirm, Yet he scanned the area from all directions.

Moreover, Van Beek hit it harder since he judged it nicely and heaved over the line at this slower ball on a full length outside off. Netherland lost nine wickets and 252 runs. Furthermore, credit for the boosted score went to Logan van Beek and Sybrand Engelbrecht.

Paul van Meekeren and Aryan Dutt

Paul van Meekeren came to the crease now. Just one ball and one over are left to play for the Netherlands. Since the score could barely cawl at 262 runs, the Dutch lost another wicket. Game Over. More backup wickets were there.

However, Aryan scored nine runs on six balls. Yet his score included one boundary. However, he was not out till the end.

Meekeren scored 4 runs on 5 balls. To his hard luck, he was run out on the second last ball of the inning. Moreover, the Netherlands lost a free hit after being run out owing to a no-ball.

Second Innings: Sri Lanka vs. Netherlands, SL scored 263 runs against loss of 5 wickets.

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera opened the innings for the Sri Lankan side. However, Aryan Dutt was the attacking bowler for the Netherlands. Kusal Perera could not play much and lost his wicket in the initial overs. It was not a good start for Sri Lanka.

Perera scored only 5 runs on 8 balls. However, his innings included one boundary. He located the fielder. However, Perera sliced it straight to short third. Despite the fact that it was shorter and wider. Since he was unable to gain enough height on this cut.

Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis was on the crease now. It is so unfortunate for Sri Lanka that today Mendis could not even score much. So he lost his wicket just by making 11 runs on 17 balls.

On the ball of Dutt, he attempted the massive slog sweep. Yet he was able to top-edge the ball over the keeper. However, the short, fine leg succeeded in a simple tactic after turning around. Sri Lanka lost two wickets for just 52 runs.

Pathum Nissanka and Samarawickrama

Samarawickrama was on the crease now. Actually, his appearance on the crease was a setback for the Netherlands. Then in the 17th over, Nissanka lost his wicket. He scored 54 runs on 52 balls. Moreover, his score included nine boundaries. Then, on the advice of Van Meekeren, he was dismissed.

Nissanka became distracted as Edwards made a terrific catch, thus breaking his focus. Moreover, he was forced to go to his right, whereupon he ultimately fell. Furthermore, he did well to allow the ball to come to him.

Van Meekeren, moreover, got the ball to come back in after pitching by bowling on a short length to his right outside off. With hardly enough room to play that shot, Nissanka slashed but got an outside edge behind to offer the Netherlands another opening.

Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka

Charith Asalanka came to the crease now. Moreover the duo played so well. As they reached 181 runs in 33rd over. He scored 44 runs off 66 balls. His innings included 2 boundaries and one six. Then unfortunately in 33 over he was dismissed, on the ball of Dutt.

Asalanka searched for the massive slog sweep once more. Since he attempted the same thing in the previous over and missed, the ball turned and bounded beyond the stump. Nevertheless, it continued with the arm and slammed into the center.

Samarawickrama and Dhananjaya de Silva

DDS has come to the crease now. Good duo they both made now. Moreover, DDS scored 30 on 37 balls. Yet his innings included one boundary and two sixes. He sneaked out and received a bowl. Moreover, he pushed out at this length.

Since it slides near the sixth stump, Perhaps you looked for a six to end this. Yet the ball continued to strike the off stump. Since he swung too soon, he was defeated by the turn and the dip. But for the Netherlands, it was quite late. Sri Lanka was 257/5 in 46.5 overs.

Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dushan Hemantha

Dushan Hemantha came to the crease now.  Since he could play only 3 balls and scored 4 runs. However Samarawickrama scored 91 runs on 107 balls. Moreover his innings included 7 boundaries. He was about to make a century, so his score was match winning.

Hence it resulted in Sri Lanka’s win. They scored 263 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in just 48.2 overs.
