As the Bangladesh vs New Zealand T20 series comes to an End with a tie at Bay Oval Stadium. The player of the series award goes to Shoriful Islam for the way he fought as a player. However, the match didn’t go till the 20 overs because the rain interrupted the Match. Later the New Zealand team was declared as the winners by the DLS method.

Introduction of Shoriful Islam

Mohammad Shoriful Islam is a left-arm medium to fast bowler of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team from 2021. Furthermore, he played for Bangladesh in all formats of Cricket. In addition, he was also part of the Bangladesh Squad for the Cricket World Cup 2023. During the 3rd ODI between BAN vs NZ in December 2023, he completed his 50 wickets in 32 Matches. Furthermore, he becomes the third fastest Bangladeshi Bowler to do so. Previously he was famous as the Run Machine. Currently he is one of the finest bowlers of Bangladesh.

Personal information

Shoriful was born at Panchagarh, Bangladesh on June 3,2001. His father Dulal Mia and mother Bulbuli Begum are also Bangladeshi Residents. He started taking interest in Cricket from a very young age. However, he properly started playing domestic Cricket in 2017.

Domestic Career

At domestic Cricket, Shoriful started by playing for Rajshahi Division in the National Cricket League in 2017 as his first-class debut. Later he played for Prime Bank Cricket Club for Dhaka Premier Cricket League 2017-18 as his List-A debut. Furthermore, he was one of the leading wicket takers of his team in that season with a total of 17 wickets. The T20 appearance of Shoriful was made in August 2018 for Bangladesh A by playing against Ireland.

In that match his wonderful performance led him to his selection in the preliminary squad of Bangladesh for the upcoming 2018 Asia Cup. Later during the same year 2018 he was selected in the Khulna Titans squad for BPL 2018-19. Furthermore, he was selected in the Bangladesh Team for the upcoming Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2018. Whereas in 2019 he was selected in the Bangladesh Squad for the under-19 Cricket World Cup 2020.

International Career

Shoriful started playing for Bangladesh National Cricket Team in 2021 when he was first selected as the preliminary squad for ODI series against West Indies. Later during the same month, he was also selected in the ODI squad for the series against New Zealand. Whereas, in the same month he made debut in T20I cricket for Bangladesh against New Zealand.

In Test Cricket, he made debut against Sri Lanka on April 29,2021. Shoriful made his ODI debut on May 25,2021 against Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he was selected in the Bangladesh Squad for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2021 & 2022. Whereas he also was part of the Bangladesh Squad in ICC CWC2023.
