Muhammad Nabi Inaugural Test match

Furthermore, having participated in Afghanistan’s inaugural One Day International in April 2009 and their inaugural Test match in June 2018. Nabi’s family relocated to Peshawar, Pakistan, after he was born in the Afghan province of Logar. Moreover, at the age of ten, he began playing cricket in Peshawar.  In 2000, after his family returned to Afghanistan, he started playing cricket with Shapoor Zadran, Asghar Afghan, and Muhammad Shahzad. Afghanistan qualified for their first-ever major international ODI tournament. However, in only their fourth matchup with a Test nation throughout the tournament, they emerged victorious over Bangladesh. After giving up the captaincy, Nabi’s bad performance persisted until Afghanistan’s domestic ODI series vs Zimbabwe. Further, Nabi’s batting improved significantly throughout the series as he was moved up from number 6 to number 3 by Afghanistan’s new coach, Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Meanwhile, He scored 223 runs and his first ODI century, earning him the title of player of the series. Moreover, during the 2016 ICC World Twenty20, Nabi had a leading role in assisting Afghanistan to defeat Zimbabwe and Hong Kong in the group stage.

Resignation

Following the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, he resigned as captain due to dissatisfaction with the team management and the team’s lack of preparation. Nabi, who went to Sunrisers Hyderabad for an initial price of 30 lakh, became the initial Afghan athlete to be sold in the IPL during the 2017 auction.
