International Information

Initial Career

Jansen, in his early life, used to play as an opener batsman. Moreover, when he was nine, he scored 164 runs in T20. Yet he was not out until then. Furthermore, his father detected the talent in him. However, he trained him in nets along with Duan, the twin brother of him. Yet they both played for North West.


The International Career of Marco Jansen

Jansen initiated his international career in January 2021. Since he was added to the test squad of South Africa against Pakistan, Later on, in May 2021, he was added to the Test team against the West Indies.

Moreover, he was added to the Test team’s squad for home matches against India. Moreover, he grabbed the first wicket of Jasprit Bumrah then. Since he was caught at third slip due to the flawless fielding of Wiaan Mulder,.

Later on, in January 2022, he made his maiden ODI call-up for South Africa against India. Moreover, he made his debut on January 19, 2022, against India.

It is to be discussed that he made his T20I debut against India. Yet he played that match on June 17, 2022, against India. It is to be noted that he played in the 2023 ICC World Cup.

Domestic Career of Marco Jansen

It is to be discussed that Jansen made his List A debut on April 8, 2018. Yet it was for the North West in the 2017-18 CSA Provincial One Day Challenge. However, he made his first-class debut in the CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup on October 11, 2018.

Later on, in January 2019, he was added to the national U-19 team prior to the South Africa tour to India. However, he was the leading wicket taker in the 2018-19 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup. Thus, he grabbed 27 wickets in six matches.


It is to be noted that Jansen was added to the Durban Heat Team for the Mzani Super League Tournament 2019. . Yet he was added to the Mumbai Indianas for his IPL debut. Hence, this was against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9, 2021.

However, he grabbed 2 wickets against 28 runs in his 4 overs, including the major wicket of Glenn Maxwell. It is to be noted that Maxwell took his debut wicket for the IPL.

Later on, he was added to Eastern Province’s squad ahead of the 2021–22 season played in South Africa. Moreover, Sunrisers Hyderabad will opt for him as their player in February 2022. Hence, he was added to Wahington Freedon to play in the Major League Cricket Competition in 2023.
