Lahore Qalandars is a franchise of Pakistani Professional Cricket which is taking part in the PSL from the beginning of PSL i-e from 2016. Furthermore, this franchise represents the Capital City of Punjab, Pakistan. In addition, Gaddafi Stadium is the home ground of Lahore Qalandars. Moreover, the franchise is owned by Rana Brothers and established in 2015. 

 The Current Skipper of Lahore Qalandars is Shaheen Shah Afridi who is leading the team from 2022 and also the brand ambassador of Qalandars from 2019. Whereas, the current Coach of the team is a former Cricketer of Pakistan, Aaqib Javed.

Lahore Qalandars Franchise Brief

Early History

The inaugural session of PSL 2016 was decided by the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2015. At that time the PSL 2016 was planned to be held in February 2016 in UAE. Total 5 different city franchises and their owners were unveiled in December 2015 by PCB. Furthermore, Lahore franchise was the 2nd most expensive franchise which was sold to the Kausar Rana Resources Private Ltd for about 25.1 million US$. In addition, it was sold for the time span of 10 years. Whereas the Karachi Kings was on the top with the sold cost of $26 Millions. Later in 2016, Lahore franchise held auditions in the 8 cities of Pakistan to pick the talented players for their team through the Jazz Rising Star Campaign under the Players Development Program.

The finalized top 2 players got Selected to play for Lahore Qalandars. Whereas the rest shortlisted got the opportunity to get trained with Sydney Thunders in Australia. An amazing fast bowler Yasir Jan was also picked up by Aqib Javed in those trials of Jazz Rising Talent.

2016-2023 Seasons of Lahore Qalandars in PSL

In 2016, which was also marked as the first season of PSL, Qalandars only won 2/8 group stage Matches. However, the key player of the team, Umar Akmal declared as the leading run-scorer of the tournament. Later, in 2017 the team again knocked out of the play-off rounds. However, in 2018 the team suffered a great blow as they were the first team to get eliminated from the 2nd phase of the tournament. During the draft for 2019, 12 new players were picked up which includes international players too. But again, the team was unable to enter the final stage and got eliminated in the group stage.

In the 2020 season of PSL, for the first time Qalandars appeared in the Playoffs. Unfortunately, they got defeated by Karachi Kings in the finale after a nerve wrecking game. However, Qalandars took a fabulous start in the 2021 season of PSL by winning the first match against Peshawar Zalmi. At the end they won 5 matches and lost in 5. So again, they were not able to qualify for the Play-offs. Later, the 2022 season of PSL brought glorious victories for Qalandars under the guidance of the captain Shaheen Shah Afridi. At the end Lahore Qalandars won the trophy of PSL for the very first time. In addition, they also defended the PSL title in 2023 by winning that tournament too.

Shaheen Shah Afridi (Captain)

Shaheen Afridi is a fast bowler of Pakistan National Cricket Team from 2018. In addition, he is also the current captain of the Pakistan National Cricket Team in T20I format of Cricket. Furthermore, he is the 1st Pakistani Player who won the Garfield Sobers Trophy. Shaheen Shah Afridi is leading the Qalandars team as a skipper from 2022-present in PSL. In addition, Qalandars won the title of PSL winner twice under his captaincy. As a player, he is the left-arm pacer of Qalandars team.

Fakhar Zaman

Fakhar Zaman is the Left-hand Opening Batsman of the Pakistan National Cricket Team from 2017. Zaman’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2017 took him to the limelight. As a player, he is serving the Qalandars team from 2017. In the 2022 season of PSL, he was the highest Run-scorer. During the 2023 season of PSL, his contributions led the Qalandars team to Victory again.

Abdullah Shafique

Abdullah is the top-order, right-hand batsman of the Pakistan National Cricket Team from 2020. The PSL journey of Abdullah Shafique started in 2021, when he was first selected in the Qalandars Squad for 2022 season of PSL.

Now, Abdullah was once again named in the Qalandars Squad for the 2024 edition of PSL.

Shai Hope

Shai Hope is a wicket-keeper batsman of the West-Indies National Cricket Team from 2015. Furthermore, he is the current Captain of the West Indies National Team in the ODI format of Cricket. In the 2024 drafts of PSL, Shai was picked up by the Qalandars Team.

Dan Lawrence 

Dan is a right-handed middle order batsman of the England National Cricket Team from 2021. Along with being a batsman he is also an occasional right-arm off break bowler. For the PSL 2024, Dan is selected as the middle-order batsman of the Lahore Qalandars Team.

Mirza Tahir Baig

Mirza Tahir Baig is a right-hand top order international cricketer. However, he started playing international cricket from the start of 2023. Furthermore, Mirza Baig debuted in T20 format of Cricket by playing for Qalandars against Multan Sultans in february,2023. So, he was also part of the Qalandars Squad who won the PSL 2023 Title. Currently, Mirza is again selected as the Top-order batsman in the Qalandars team.

Sahibzada Farhan

Sahibzada Farhan is the right-handed opening batsman of the Pakistan National Team in T20I format of Cricket from 2018. Prior to the 2024 drafts of PSL, Farhan played for Islamabad United in 2018-19 and Karachi Kings in 2022. Now, for the 2024 season he is picked up by the Qalandars team as the Middle Order batsman.

Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie is a right-handed opening batsman of the South African National Cricket Team from 2018. Previously he played PSL 2020, as the player of Islamabad United. For the 2024 season of PSL, he was bought by the Qalandars as a top order batsman.

Kamran Ghulam

Kamran is a right-hand batsman and slow left-arm bowler of Pakistan. At the start of PSL 2016-17, Kamran played for Islamabad United. Later he also played for Lahore Qalandars in the 2022 season of PSL. Now he is selected as an all-rounder in Qalandars team for PSL2024.

Rashid Khan

Rashid is a right-arm bowling all-rounder of the Afghan National Cricket Team from 2015. In addition, he is also serving the Afghan Cricket Team as a Captain of the T20I format of Cricket. Previously, he played for Quetta Gladiators in PSL2018 as a Platinum Category Player. Later he was bought by Lahore Qalandars also as a platinum Category Player for the PSL2021. Since then, he has been playing in PSL as a member of Qalandars team. In PSL2O24, he is selected as the bowling all-rounder by Qalandars Team.

Sikandar Raza

Sikandar Raza is a Pakistani Born Player who played for Zimbabwe National Cricket Team in all formats of Cricket. Furthermore, he is playing for Zimbabwe as an all-rounder from 2013. Raza was selected by Qalandars in their Gold Category back in 2022 for the PSL2023. Now in PSL2023 he is drafted again by Qalandars as their Batting all-rounder.

David Wiese

David is a South African National who plays for South Africa from 2013-16 as an all-rounder. However, after that he is playing for Namibia from 2021 to present. Firstly, he was drafted by Lahore Qalandars for PSL2019 as a replacement. However, later he became a key player of Lahore Qalandars team due to his power hitting performances. So, he is drafted by Qalandars as an all-rounder for the PSL2024 too.

Haris Rauf

Haris Rauf is a fast bowler of Pakistan National Cricket Team from 2020. Furthermore, his debut in T20 Cricket is by playing for the Qalandars in 2018 in Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy. So, he was selected again by the Qalandars for PSL2019. After that he played for Qalandars in every season of PSL as an integral member. Moreover, he is drafted again by Qalandars for this season of PSL.

Mohammad Imran

Mohammad Imran is a medium-fast bowler of Pakistan National Cricket Team from 2014. Previously he had played for Multan Sultans from the 2021-23 seasons of PSL. Currently he is drafted by Qalandars Franchise as a Bowler of their team for PSL2024.

Syed Faridoun

Syed Faridoun is a left-arm professional bowler of Pakistan. In PSL, he played for Qalandars for the 2022-23 seasons. Now for the PSL2024 he is once again drafted by the Qalandars team as a bowler.

Zaman Khan

Zaman is a professional bowler of the Pakistan National Cricket Team from 2023. Moreover, he was drafted by the Qalandars for the 7th edition of PSL in December 2021. In that season his prominent efforts helped the team to win the PSL title for the very first time. Whereas he took a total of 18 wickets in that tournament. Then again, he was drafted by Qalandars for PSL2023 and now for PSL2024 too as a Bowler.

Ahsan Bhatti

Ahsan is an all-rounder Cricketer of Pakistan. Previously he played for Qalandars in the PSL2023. Now he is again drafted by the Qalandars franchise as an all-rounder for their team in PSL2024.

Jahandad Khan

Jahnadad is a professional left-arm medium to fast bowler and a right-hand batsman. Furthermore, he is picked by the Qalandars for the 2024 season of PSL.
