As a result, the New Zealand team won after a sensational match after making total scores of 254/49.2. Now New Zealand is leading this series with 1-0. 

Overall, the team played well but Ish is the player of the match due to his 6/10 wickets haul and exceptional 36 runs in 39 balls.

Sodhi belonged to a Sikh family and was born on October 31, 1992, at Ludhiana Punjab, India. Yet his national team side is New Zealand for which he played Cricket in all formats. Also, Sodhi’s Full name is Inderbir Singh Sodhi.

 His Childhood was spent in Papatoetoe because he was 4 when his family migrated to New Zealand. So he got his early education there. Also, Sodhi is known as Ice Ice Sodhi as a nickname among his circle of close friends.

International Career of Ish Sodhi

The visit of New Zealand in 2013 to Bangladesh for a Test Match was the debut of Test Internationals for Sodhi. Whereas his T20I debut was in 2014 against West Indies. Later in 2015, Sodhi’s ODI career began against Zimbabwe.

Sodhi was also among the players to be selected for the New Zealand Squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Again in 2021, he was selected in the squad for ICC MENS T20I World Cup.

Furthermore, Sodhi achieved his 1st maiden 5 Wicket Spell in test Cricket during a test against Pakistan in 2022. Along with that during the 1st innings, he also scored his career’s best 65 runs.

Domestic Career

At domestic level, Sodhi started with Northern Districts in 2012 for Plunket Shield Season. Later in 2017 he also played for Adelaide Strikers but that was just a replacement. Yet he managed to play 3rd Match with an amazing 6/11 and became the Man of the Match with Strikers Victory in that Match.

And these were the 2nd best after Lasith Malinga in the history of Big Bash League. Moreover, Sodhi took the highest wicket-taker during the Plunket Shield Season in 2018-19.

He also played in IPL as a player of Rajasthan Royals. In addition, he also played as a Squad of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in 2020 Caribbean Premier League.
