Chinnaswamy Stadium is among the major cricketing centers, located in the heart of the capital city Bangalore. Furthermore, it is almost five decades old. The venue which is previously known as Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium, rebaptized as M.Chinnaswamy Stadium after the name of Mangalam Chinnaswamy Mudaliar. He served the KSCA whole heartedly for nearly four decadesas.

Earlier History of Chinnaswamy Stadium

The Establishment of this majestic cricket ground was started in May,1969. However, the development of proper building was later started in 1970. The stadium can hold the capacity of 40,000 spectators at a time. Chinnaswamy Stadium is originally possessed by the Karnataka Government as Owner but was subleased to the KSCA. Karnataka Cricket team and Royal Challengers Bangalore are the acted home teams of this Stadium. Narayan Raju is the present Conservator of the Venue,who is fulfilling and taking all the responsibilities as the caretaker.

With the vast efforts and huge amount of grants from Karnataka Govt, the inlaid foundation of the ground started in May,1969. Later it is expanded as the construction of building started in 1970. The commencement of first-Class cricket Matches was initiated during the matches in years 1972 to 1973. Later, the stadium gained the test status, when WI team visited India from 1974 to 1975. Moreover, the stadium was the first one to use Solar panels for creating huge mass of Power supply which are needed to run the Stadium.

Furthermore, the installation of floodlights in 1996, for Wills World Cup, was also an upbringing development for the stadium. From the year 2000, the stadium also accommodates for India s national Cricket Academy. In Jan 2017, a massive system of effluvium and circumvent was installed to avoid the delay in matches due to the damp and moist field.
