Introduction of the Ground

Eurolux Boland Park is an all-purpose ground located at Langenhoven Avenue, Boland Agricultural Show Grounds in Paarl, South Africa. Moreover, the venue gives a spectacular view to the onlookers with its lush green and mountainous Surroundings. Although it’s a multipurpose Stadium however it used for Cricket Matches most of the time. It’s a home for the Boland Cricket team, Paarl Rocks and Cape Cobras. Furthermore, it is not a ground with huge space rather it only contains a capacity of 10,000 Spectators. In contrast, its magnificent surroundings are far better than the other Stadiums of South Africa. In addition, the history of this venue is not very old as it was established in 1996 and only hosted ODIs and T20Is at the international level. However, it hosted just one Test Match of Womens in 2002 between India and South Africa.

International Cricket Matches at the Ground

Test Internationals

Until now only one Test Match was hosted by the venue and that too was a match of Women Cricket teams between India and South Africa. Moreover, the match was held on March 19-23, 2002.


The first ODI Match was played between India and Zimbabwe on January 27,1997 at this venue. Furthermore, that was a Tri-series which later ended in a tie between the two teams. However, the last ODI played at the venue was on January 21,2022 between South Africa and India. Whereas the first WODI was played between South Africa and the West Indies on October 16, 2009.In addition, a total of 20 ODIs were hosted by Boland Park Ground until now. 


A total of 10 T20Is were arranged by the ground among which only one was the Men’s T20 whereas the rest were Women’s T20s. The only men’s T20I was held on November 29,2020 between South Africa and England teams. Whereas the first T20I was played between South Africa and West Indies on October 25,2009.

International Information of the Stadium

ICC Cricket World Cup 2003

Boland Park hosted 3 matches during the Cricket World Cup 2003. The 1st match was between India vs Netherlands on February 12,2003, where India defeated Netherlands by 68 runs. However, the 2nd match was played between Canada and Sri Lanka on February 19,2003 and Sri Lanka won that match at the end by 9 Wickets. Lastly Pakistan opposed Netherlands in a match on February 25,2003 where Pakistan achieved a brilliant victory by 97 runs.

Pitch of the Boland Park Cricket Ground

The ground contains a grass pitch that gives more favors to the Batters. However, it’s a competitive track which gives benefits to both the batters and the bowlers. During the 1st innings of any match batsman got more benefits however during the 2nd innings spinners got extra advantage.


The venue has a full arrangement of floodlights for the day and night Matches. Moreover, the venue was upgraded to LED Lighting which reduces the energy consumption.

International 5 wicket haul at the venue

A total of 2 international 5 wicket hauls were made at the stadium. Furthermore, both were in Men’s ODIs. First was made by Eddo Brandes on January 27,1997 in a match between Zimbabwe and India. However, the 2nd spell of 5 wickets was created by Lasith Malinga on January 11,2012 in a match between South Africa and Sri Lanka.

International Centuries

Overall, 9 ODI Centuries were made at the venue by different Batsmen. Among all AB de Villiers was on the top with a score of 176/104 runs. However, Sachin Tendulkar holds the 2nd position with 146/132 runs. Whereas Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klassen came next with 129/98 and 123/114 runs.
