Bay Oval

Bay Oval is the cricket ground situated in New Zealand. Moreover, it is to be mentioned here that it is exactly found on Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, in the Bay of Plenty. Yet it was built in Blake Park. It was built in 2005.

Since it’s not that popular Yet many limited-over international as well as national matches have been played here. However, it hosted the first match in November 2019. History of Bay Oval

Before Establishment of International Stadium

Since the establishment of Blake Park in 1950. Northern Districts used it for List A matches in the years 1987–88 and 2001–02. Moreover, 24 matches were played for the Limited Overs Cricket Trophy. It is to be mentioned that a large number of spectators came to watch matches during the 1980s and 1990s.

Since the matches between Pakistan A and New Zealand A also gained much attention from the audience in 1988, it is to be noted that Northern Districts women played two matches at Blake Park in 2004–05.

Since the Establishment of Stadium

The Bay of Plenty Cricket Association started building Bay Oval at the same location in 2005. Yet the Northern Districts women’s team played their first match in this stadium in December 2007. Moreover, the senior men’s team met Otago in his first state T20 competition in 2008–09.

Furthermore, they both played on this field later on in April 2015. Yet this was a first-class match. It is noteworthy that Canada and the Netherlands played their first ODI in this stadium in January 2014. Yet it was part of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2014. Moreover, the New Zealand women’s team played their first ODI in this stadium in March 2014.

Furthermore, England visited New Zealand in November 2019. However, the first match was played in this stadium. Yet the home team won the match by 65 runs and an inning. Furthermore, in December 2020, it hosted the first Boxing Day test between Pakistan and New Zealand. However, New Zealand won by 101 runs.

It is to be discussed here that Bangladesh defeated New Zealand in their match on January 20, 2022. Moreover, they won by a margin of 8 wickets. It is to be discussed here that it was the first win for Bangladesh against New Zealand. Furthermore, it was the only victory in 33 matches.
