Barsapara Cricket Stadium or Assam Cricket Association Stadium is a cricket stadium located in Barsapara, Guwahati, Assam, and India. Hence, it is often referred to as ACA Stadium. The Assam Cricket Association owns and runs it, and it serves as the home field for the Assam cricket team. Moreover, the stadium can hold up to 50,000 people at a time.

On October 10, 2017, Sarbananda Sonowal, the former chief minister of Assam, gave the stadium its grand opening. Hence, this is the 49th site for international cricket in India.

Barsapara Cricket Stadium inaugural Twenty20

The inaugural Twenty20 International cricket match held in this venue took place in 2017.The match between Australia and India, with Australia emerging victorious. Therefore, Cricket matches, both domestic and international, are held in the arena. In northeastern India, it is the biggest sports stadium.

Further, the stadium served as the second home of the Rajasthan Royals. Who used it to host part of their home games when they first played Indian Premier League matches in April 2023.Hence, The BCCI launched this program in an effort to improve cricket in Northeast India.

Barsapara Cricket Stadium History

Then-Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi set the stadium’s foundation stone in June 2004.Moreover, In July 2007, he did the same in front of former BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah for the stadium’s club house and stand.

The state government cleared a piece of the land from encroachers and gave the Assam Cricket Association an area of 59 bighas. Hence, in 2006, the Assam Cricket Association commenced building. Prior to being prepared for domestic first-class matches. Thus, this ground was used as a dumping ground. However, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has held a few local matches here.

Ranji Trophy season

The first match played at the field was the East Zone Senior Women who have Inter-State One-Day Championship. This between Odisha and Assam on November 4, 2012. Hence, there were four matches held at the ground during the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy season. The inaugural first-class match pitted Kerala against Assam.

Furthermore, the stadium held its maiden T20I on October 10, 2017. Australia defeated the host nation, India, by eight wickets in the match that was played. The freshly opened stadium saw 38,132 people in attendance for this game.

In addition, October 21, 2018, was the first ODI held at the stadium. The West Indies cricket team and the hosts, India, competed in the match. The game was won by India by eight wickets.

Women’s International Cricket

The venue hosted Women’s International Cricket for the initial time from March 4–9, 2019. Hence, The Indian women’s cricket team, who were hosting the England women’s squad, played three Women’s Twenty20 International matches. On the other hand, The WT20I series was won 3-0 by the English women’s cricket team.
