Australia won the toss and decided to field. so South Africa’s opening batsman Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma, who is their captain, started the series as the match started, Quentin de Kock slightly Gave high performance but got out soon.

The South African captain played a brilliant innings of 114 runs off 142 balls. But he was not supported by any other man at the crease, because the player who came was out early. Due to which he was in a lot of trouble and his team could not score too many runs and were dismissed for 222 in their last over.

Their efforts outweighed Temba Bavuma’s third 100 in an ODI in six games this year and consecutive 100s in Bloemfontein as he stood alone. Bavuma saw South Africa collapse to 185 for 9 after being dropped on 2 and 88. He had so far scored only 30 runs for his team in the first 50 balls

But on the other hand, he only had one partner who played with him for a long time on the pitch than 10 overs (Marco Jansen) and saw them beyond 220 with an unbeaten 114 off 142 balls. After Herschelle Gibbs in Sharjah in March 2000, he became just the second South African to carry his bat during an ODI innings.

But his attempts were in futile, and they also raised a query that will remain unanswered for the remainder of the series and the World Cup that comes after.

Australia has now won four straight games on this trip, and they have also ended a streak of five straight ODI losses to South Africa.

Second innings Highlights

Australia Squad

David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh(c), Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Alex Carey(w), Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa

Therefore Australia didn’t get a huge target so they were very relaxed that they would easily reach the target. David Warner and Travis Head opened the batting for Australia. AS the target was not that big but the Australian team was still playing with a lot of pace that they maintained a good strike rate and scored 69 runs in 10 overs for the loss of only four wickets.

Australia was 7 down with approximately 100 to go when attempting to chase a modest but challenging score on a challenging pitch. In destroying the top order with the new ball, Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Lungi Ngidi were outstanding. But as the ball grew stale, the ground became easier to bat on, and Ashton Agar and Marnus Labuschagne played outstanding batting to get them over the finish line.

You can’t really fault the South African bowlers because they were excellent bowlers despite being a touch unpredictable. However, despite the wicket easing out, they were unable to topple the crucial stand.

Despite Australia being seven wickets lost of 100, Marnus Labuschagne didn’t let Australia face any problems and continued to score runs for his team with a good strike rate and Ashton Agar on the other hand too.  and they both ended the match in 40.2 overs with a good partnership. Ashton Agar scored 48 runs and on the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne scored 80 runs and was declared Man of the Match.

And so, Australia took a 1-0 lead out of the five ODIs in the series, inflicting a crushing defeat on South Africa and embarking on a high-scoring victory.
