In Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, there is a multipurpose stadium called ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. Hence, it is mostly utilized for international cricket matches. Sreenidhi Deccan FC, an I-League team, is considering making it their future home.

ACA-VDCA cricket stadium History

In the inaugural One Day International (ODI) match between the stadium and Pakistan in 2005, Mahindra Singh Dhoni achieved his first-ever ODI century (148 runs). Further, it held its debut test match against India and England in November 2016 after gaining Test status. Hence, India prevailed in the game by 246 runs.

Moreover, India vs Sri Lanka played their first Twenty20 International at the stadium in February 2016. In addition, Ravichandran Ashwin bowled Sri Lanka out for 83 after taking four wickets for 8 points in his 4 over session.

In 2012, the stadium served as the home field for the Deccan Chargers and hosted IPL matches. Rising Pune Supergiant’s, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in tandem in 2015.

Despite this, there were no Indian Premier League group stage matches held at this stadium in 2019. Hence, it was chosen to host the tournament’s Eliminator and Second Qualifier.

  • On May 21, 2016, Mahindra Singh Dhoni of the Rising Pune Supergiant’s scored 22 runs off the final over versus Axar Patel of Kings XI Punjab. Further, at this stadium, to win one of the biggest chases in T20s.

  • During Pakistan’s 2005 visit of India, MS Dhoni hit his first-ever ODI century (148) on this field.
  • Hence, On December 18, 2019, Rohit Sharma made history by becoming the leading individual ODI scorer on this field when he struck 159 off 138 balls over the West Indies.
  • Further, at this venue, Mayank Agarwal scored his first Test hundred and turned it into another century (215), the greatest individual score for any batsman on the field.
  • However, India’s 387/5 against the West Indies in 2019 was the highest ODI score ever by a side.
  • Furthermore, In India’s 2019 match against the West Indies, Rohit Sharma and K. L. Rahul each scored 100 runs and amassed 227 points for the first wicket.
